Celebrating National Nurses Week
Altus Infusion joins the American Nurses Association and the rest of the medical community in celebrating National Nurses Week, held from May 6-12, 2019.
The purpose of this annual week-long celebration is to highlight the value of nurses and help educate the public and medical community about the vital role nurses play in meeting the healthcare needs of Americans.
There are countless brave and compassionate stories of the hard work nurses do every day in our nation’s history, and yet these caring nurses don’t always get the recognition they deserve.
It is because of this lack of recognition that National Nurses Week is so important to our organization. We owe much to the caring, resilient, and brave nurses that work with us, and help us improve the healthcare standards of our biologic management services.
We believe famed physician Sir William Osler said it best when he stated that:
“The Trained Nurse Has Become One of The Greatest Blessings of Humanity, Taking A Place Beside the Physician and The Priest”
What Makes an Altus Infusion Nurse so Special?
Working as a nurse with our organization can be one of the most rewarding and fulfilling careers in healthcare.
At Altus Infusion, we are grateful and blessed to have some of the top-rated nurses nationwide working alongside our valued physicians.
As many of our patient and physician testimonies show, our nurses enhance the lives of patients and have a positive impact on treatment outcomes.
While we believe every nurse is special, we must admit we are biased when it comes to those who decide to work with us. We find them to be the very best!
Not only do they have some of the best academic qualifications, but they are also superb human beings who excel on many other levels.
These are just some of their many traits:
Our nurses display an outstanding level of empathy toward their patients, providing comfort and explaining complicated medical terms when necessary.
When it comes to treating chronic illnesses, the smallest details can have far-reaching consequences when it comes to a patient’s health.
Aside from paying close attention to the nuances of patient care, our nurses’ administer biologic treatments, which are by its nature more complex than regular infusion treatments. Therefore, there is a large amount of information they must assimilate and use when needed.
Because of this, our nurses are incredibly organized and detail oriented.
The Role of Biologic Nurse Specialists
The administration of biologic treatments for chronic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, asthma, psoriatic arthritis, and gastrointestinal disorders has risen in recent years.
This has fostered the need for specialist nurses who undergo extensive training to be qualified to take on many responsibilities in the patient pathway including:
- Treatment Administration
- Patient Education
- Patient Support
- Monitoring and Data Collection
To celebrate National Nurses Week, we encourage our colleagues, physicians, and the general public to take the time to recognize those extraordinary nurses that have through their hard work and dedication, helped us get healthy again and made our lives better.
To all Altus Infusion nurses, we would like to say thank you for being the heart of healthcare in America and enriching our lives with your passion and dedication.
